Steady Zoom Effect:

Built for Mac OS-X

The Steady Zoom pack is built around a progressive zoom effect which allows for smoothly applying and then removing a zoom factor according to the Filter In and Filter Out sliders.
Also, Motion in the movie clip can be reduced from frame to frame by using one of the "Steady" variants. This will shift each video field according to it's motion relative the previous one, removing the camera shake from your movies, or smoothing out poor target tracking. This is a very similar effect to the Steady-Cam actions of many camcorders.
NOTE:
The miniature preview shown in iMovie for this effect will not always reflect the real SteadyZoom result from the final render. This is because steadying action may differ in a smaller preview image. Generally, the final render will be more stable and track camera movement better than the preview.

Auto Steady

Generic Steady-Cam effect with optional zoom slider. This effect will prevent any black image boundaries being seen by reducing the Steadying effect as required. A small amount of zoom is always applied to a clip for this effect, and greater zoom values will allow for greater steadying to be applied. This clip was made with the Zoom slider set to max.

Progressive Steady Zoom

High quality progressive zoom with powerful steady effect.
Differs from Auto Steady in that you have the option of a fast no-zoom effect which just steadies the image but you will see the black image borders when the image is shifted (as seen here).

Progressive Steady Zoom Draft

The same as above but with a fast, low-quality zoom.

Controls:

The Zoom slider sets the maximum zoom to be used within the effect. If the effect in and out sliders are active then the zoom will progress from 1x to the chosen level and then back again.
Note that the amount of zoom used effects the level of steadying that can be applied to the Auto-Steady effect. More zoom allows for greater steadying.

The Pan slider allows for the enlarged section of the clip to be chosen from any position left or right of centre. With a progressively applied zoom, the pan will also be slowly added and removed accordingly. This allows you to zoom in on a subject which is not in the centre of the clip.

NOTE: New Version3 plugins allow you to pick any location in the image for your zoom centre rather than using the PAN slider as in Version2. Just click on a centre spot within mini preview window.
