Effects for use with Standard iMovie projects

"Anamorphic to LBox (ImageIP)"             

 Convert Anamorphic 16:9 video (produced by some DV cameras) into Letterbox format for 4:3 TV's

"Crop 4x3 To Anamorphic (ImageIP)"       

Stretch standard 4:3 format video vertically so it proportioned correctly when showing on 16:9 TV's in widescreen mode. The top and bottom of the original frames will be lost.

"4x3 To LBox CropV (ImageIP)"               

Crop standard 4:3 format video to the central letterbox for showing in "Zoom" mode on 16:9 TV's. The top and bottom of the original frame are lost.

"4x3 To Anamorphic (ImageIP)"               

Squash standard 4:3 format video horizontally so it proportioned correctly when showing on 16:9 TV's in widescreen mode. None of the original frame is lost.

"Anamorphic to 4x3 CropH (ImageIP)"


Stretch Anamorphic 16:9 video horizontally to give a central portion as 4:3 format. The right and left edges will therefore be lost. If no zoom is used there will be no vertical distortion at all. Subsequently this can be a very fast convertion.

Effects for use with Widescreen iMovie(HD) projects

Available in plugin version 3.3 and after

"WideScreen 16x9 To inset 4x3 (ImageIP)"


Shrink video horizontally from full 16x9 size to a 4x3 proportioned box. This is useful when working with 4x3 movie clips which have been incorrectly converted to 16x9 format by iMovie for a widescreen iMovie project.

This is the reverse of the previous effect. Note that the right and left edges of the clip will be lost.

** Important - Please note:  the example images shown above are taken from the preview pane in iMovie and so do not represent the quality of the final results.

All effects can use high-quality scaling functions to reduce pixelation and jagged edges found in many such converters. Fields are retained intact so there is also no loss of motion detail.

Additional Controls:


Zoom
: A zoom slider is also included to allow for additional enlargement of the image whilst maintaining the new aspect ratio. This allows the cropped or squashed image to be scaled up to fill the image boundaries again if desired.
Quality: This slider allows you to select between high and low quality modes. The low quality mode uses acceleated scaling which does not do interpolation so jagged edges are produced. It is many times faster though and ideal for previewing results.
Pan: When zooming in, the pan slider allows you to move the viewable area to left and right to compensate for possibly lost subjects in format conversion.
